Engaging with Wikipedia Day 1

So, very soon Wikipedia there will be a much greater amount of Arabic content on Wikipedia meaning there will be a potentially greater call from clients to manage entries and ensure fair representation.

This is my journal in attempting to follow the Wikipedia flowchart as published by the PRSA and which can be found below. I am using it to manage MEPRA’s own Wiki which can be found here.

The current content on the site isn’t that great and for records and for tracking progress, I have included a screen grab.

Step 1 is to create a user account – I have done so using my common user name StephenKing2012 – I now have my own Wiki Page! Fame at last…

Step 2 I visited MEPRA’s wiki and opened the Talk Page. I then disclosed my conflict of interest and provided some basic information to be added to the main page.

Step 3 I saved it and tried to upload MEPRA’s new logo. Unfortunately, Wikipedia doesn’t allow you to upload images before your account has been active for four days, so will have to wait. There is also a very sincere effort at protecting copyright and various checks and balances to ensure that all content posted is being done so correctly and legally – good stuff.

Step 4 Now I wait. Supposedly it will take 2-5 days for the changes to be effected.

…. in the meantime, please do try and follow the above steps for your own company, and use the below chart to guide.
